A Chef's World | Spent a moment with Ákos Sárköz - Restaurant Borkonyha Winekitchen
The MICHELIN Guide takes you on a trip to Hungary to discover the treasures of this country, its chefs, its products and its producers. Following the launch of the MICHELIN Guide Budapest in september 2021, we take a closer look at Borkonyha Winekitchen, run by owner-Chef Ákos Sárközi.
The chef and owner of Borkonyha Winekitchen, Ákos Sárközi, is a warm and smiling character. This father of three ("and three dogs!" he interjects) is a local celebrity, the proud holder of an early MICHELIN Star (2014) in Hungary, and a member of the jury of a TV cooking show.
Borkonyha Winekitchen is a lively, wine-focused restaurant near the Basilica, with over 200 wines on offer, about a quarter of them by the glass. The dishes are skilfully executed and eye-catching, with subtle Hungarian influences; the cooking is kept simple by choosing top quality ingredients and letting them shine.
